Frequently asked questions
How does booking work?
You find a boat and week on Seventh Sail, send an enquiry/booking, and we connect you with the charter company that operates it. The charter contract and payment are with that operator; we facilitate and support you throughout.
Who do I pay?
Payment (deposit and balance) is made directly to the charter operator under their terms. We don’t collect or hold charter payments.
Bareboat vs. crewed — what’s the difference?
Bareboat means you charter the boat and sail it yourself (a qualified skipper aboard is required, or hire one). Crewed means a professional crew (typically skipper + host/cook) comes with the boat, included in the price.
Do I need a sailing licence?
For bareboat charters, the operator requires a recognised skipper qualification (and often a second qualified crew member). No licence is needed for a crewed charter, or if you add a professional skipper.
What’s included in the price?
The displayed price is the charter fee for the week. Extras like the security deposit, APA (a provisioning/fuel allowance), end cleaning, tourist taxes, and optional add-ons are set by the operator and shown in your booking documents.
What’s a security deposit?
A refundable amount (or insurance waiver) the operator holds against damage, returned after the charter if all is well. Amounts vary by boat.
Can I change or cancel?
Changes and cancellations follow the operator’s policy for your booking — see our Cancellation & Refunds page. We recommend travel insurance.
What if something goes wrong on the charter?
The operator runs the charter and provides on-water support. We’ll help you reach them and sort out any issues.
